The Importance of the Gold Archival CD's and DVD's

Did you know that your CD’s and DVD's may only last several years?  Most people don’t realize that their precious pictures are in jeopardy of disappearing because they aren’t stored on a Gold Archival CD.  Most CD’s only last several years and then your pictures are gone forever.   Unfortunately, we saw this happen often at Rapid Photos.  Customers would come in very distraught when they discovered there was nothing on their photo CD’s.  They brought their CD in, desperately hoping that we could restore their pictures and we couldn’t.  Once the digital markings that make up your pictures fade, it’s impossible to retrieve or restore those markings again. There is software that can retrieve what isn't faded but if the faded information is crucial to your image it's gone for good. 

CDR’s are known to deteriorate quickly due to the Earths common elements; ultraviolet light, heat and humidity.

We don’t take any chances with your treasures.  We store all your pictures on a Gold Archival CD or DVD.  This CD is one of the most reliable storage mediums available.  According to the (NIST’s) National Institute of Standards and Technology accelerated aging process to test the longevity of the CD-R media, the Archival Gold CD-R’s have been shown to safely store your images for up to 300 years.
